Fire consumes Glendale auto repair shop, employee hospitalized with burns



multiple auto businesses burned 17 cars damaged nearby homes evacuated and a man rushed to the hospital with serious burns fire burning for hours near 61st Avenue and Glendale ABC 15 Zach Crenshaw joining us live exact the big question what started all this yeah that's what fire investigators are trying to figure out tonight it is unclear what exactly sparked the flames that led to this entire auto body shock to be engulfed in flames multiple crews responding it took them hours to put it out in total and in just the last hour we saw investigators back out here with flashlights searching through the rubble a haze filling Glendale as cars burned to their shells the roof caving in on one half of the building firefighters from across the valley working tirelessly to contain the damage to vintage motors repairs auto body garage which houses multiple businesses total disaster Roy Warner's brother-in-law owns one of the garage spaces have you blow an underlying because he's the only Buddhist he has so obviously it impact me a great deal his brother surveying the damage after as employees from neighboring shops salvaged TVs and whatever else wasn't soaked or smoked luckily it wasn't in the shop that caught on fire Aaron Brown dropped his car off earlier then went home turn on the news and it's all on the news the place is on fire first thought was like oh my god my car it still drives but the interior filled with water my seat is soaking it's all wet my heartbeat is ruined upset angry emotional stressed employees told me they're feeling the same worried about where their work Monday and their next paycheck it's gonna be families hard up in the long run so it's never a good thing this stuff happens to good people I don't understand one employee also hurt rushed to the County burn hospital with second-degree burns on his arm and leg coworkers say he was just 21 years old but a season two mechanic I feel bad for the guy because he's I brought my car to him multiple times he's a he's really good person he's honest now back out here live you can see a number of the shops right now are packing up some of the things they were able to salvage from those garages putting tools and stuff in the back of pickup trucks it is unclear how long this place is going to be closed but in the last hour so they put up this no trespassing sign and the fire department made it clear the businesses will not be able to go back in there for quite some time we'll stay on top of the story and let you know what caused this fire when investigators figure it out live in Glendale is that Crenshaw ABC 15 Arizona yeah a lot of work to be done Zach thank you
