2019 vs. 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Review (DETAILED) SUV Comparison | Which SUV is Better? | In 4K UHD!

Hey guys and today we’re going to be
doing a complete in-depth comparison review between the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe
sport and the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe in this ultimate vehicle showdown with the SUV and crossover markets still
currently on a rise in America Hyundai knew it was time to completely redesign
their Santa Fe sport in order to attract more appeal to their five passenger
mid-sized family crossover despite the Santa Fe sales figures
increasing at a steady rate each year many of its direct and indirect
competitors have been getting quite drastic updates in recent years as a
result honey decided to jump onto that bandwagon and produce an all-new model
of their first-ever and best-selling SUV in America with the third generation
first being introduced for the 2013 model year wearing the 40 X cultural 1.0
design language the Santa Fe sport is one of the last Hyundai models in the
u.s. at least to get the footage folks sure to apply no design language for you
there so here we are now in the all-new fourth generation twenty nineteen
hundreds the event but is this revamp truly enough to push Hyundai’s all new
2019 Santa Fe to the top of the charts well it’s still deeper into both the
2018 and the 2019 models of the Santa Fe to find out how much Hyundai’s mid-sized
family crossover has truly improved now before I get this review rolling I
like to thank Tony King at Rick Hayes Hyundai and Palazzo Florida for Lonnie
should you this vehicle free values if you aren’t just in purchasing a
brand-new Hyundai and live in the South Florida area don’t hesitate to check
them out they’ll get you into the perfect Hyundai in no time
and remember that all the drive and be tuned reviews are 100% honest and 0%
vibes so let’s get started alright here they are the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport
and the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe now before we talk about the exterior styling of
these two vehicles I did want to mention the overall new naming scheme that
Hyundai is going to be using for the Santa Fe lineup so previously you had
the Hyundai Santa Fe sport which was your five passenger family crossover
that had two rows of seats and then you had the Hyundai Santa Fe for 2018 which
was a 3-row crossover that sat seven passengers now for 20 1948 and they’re
going to be calling it the Hyundai Santa Fe it’s still going to see a total of
five passengers and have two rows of seats but if you are in the search for a
seven passenger 3-row crossover that is going to be called the hyundai santa fe
excel which is a complete carryover from the 2019 model year if you guys want to
see me do review on those vehicles as well definitely leave a like and leave a
comment below letting me know but now let’s talk about the exterior styling of
these two vehicles so let’s first look at the 2018 model year right here it is
going to be wearing the 40 X sculpture 1.0 design language which was first
introduced on the Santa Fe sport and Santa Fe back in 2013 overall looking at
the front fascia it definitely has a very elegant and aggressive look up here
I really like how wide hyundai made the grille look on at the 2018 model year
and looking lower in the fascia it’s also going to feature this catamaran
line right there definitely making the vehicle have a very wide appearance as
well overall making this vehicle appear a lot more aggressive and like it’s
almost like a sports car from some angles so let’s move closer in
the grill right here it is going to have this satin silver finish right here as
well as your chrome Hyundai logo front and center very large right there taking
up just about two-thirds of the overall height of the grill now looking at your
headlight module right here since we have the Santa Fe sport 2.4 liter with
the value and premium package we are going to get halogen projector beam
bulbs right there with halogen reflector beams and an incandescent turn signal
indicator right here this LED accent is going to swoop all the way up right
there and that is going to be standard on all of your 2018 models now coming
below here all of this lower fascia treatment is going to be optional
equipment so since we have the Premium Package and the value package on this
Santa Fe sport 2.4 liter we are going to get this lower fascia update so we are
going to have these pretty attractive looking LED accents right here these are
going to be daytime running lights and they will have a very aggressive angle
to them very similar to what’s happening with the overall headlight module and
then below there you will have halogen reflector beam fog lights and this signs
silver bar running all the way over here definitely adds to the overall
aggressiveness of the lower fascia of this vehicle and you will also have this
glossy black finishing down here as well pretty much adding some more dimension
to the front grille definitely making this portion in this portion bold out
just a little bit more helping with the overall front fascia aggression and all
the way down at the bottom you will also have some cladding hoping with the
overall ruggedness of the overall fro fascia of this vehicle as well now
looking at the 2019 model year it actually looks quite a bit different
from – some people’s eyes it might not even be noticeable especially due to
Hyundai changing the front fascia so much of
this vehicle so this is going to be wearing Hyundai’s footik sculptured 2.0
design language which is definitely quite an evolution over the previous
generation 1.0 design language so let’s first look at the grille design right
here this is going to be wearing Hyundai’s all new trademark cascading
girl design which is going to sort of have the
in dense right here’s sort of looking like a waterfall in a way and inside of
the girl you will not have any of those satin silver finishings like how you had
on the previous generation instead it is going to sort of have these pretty
attractive looking dark gunmetal accents inside of here it looks like plastic
from far away but when you get closer up on it it sort of has like a gunmetal
plasticky glossy finish to it definitely looks pretty attractive looking in hopes
with the overall aggressive front fascia of this vehicle once again Hyundai is
still going to put their very large and bold chrome Hyundai logo right in the
center right there and above that grill you will have this strong and very bold
satin silver line that is going to run all the way across the front fascia sort
of helping with the overall width of this vehicle once again making a have a
very wide appearance from the front definitely looks very aggressive looking
another thing that is going to help with the overall aggression is going to be
these LED lights up here which are going to be standard on all of your 2019 Santa
Fe models definitely looks extremely attractive looking now coming below
there since we have the SEL Plus model of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe we will
have these projector beam halogen bulbs with halogen reflector beams and
incandescent turn signal indicators and all the way at the bottom we will also
get these incandescent fog lights now up here
unlike the 2018 model we are not going to have any turn signal indicators
Hyundai does reserve that for the ultimate trim level which is one step
above the SEL plus now looking over here on the 2018 model we are going to have
those turn signal indicators which definitely looks extremely attractive
looking and makes this vehicle look a lot more premium and upscale and like
you paid a lot more for it but nevertheless a 20-19 model is an
extremely attractive looking vehicle especially from the front fascia and
just like the 2018 model you will also have some more of that plastic cladding
on the bottom as well as a little bit of that set and silver finishing in the
center hoping with the overall aggressive look of it also Hyundai has
sort of dumbed down the overall catamaran line design here it’s
definitely a little bit less prominent so I feel like a
doesn’t really do the overall width of this vehicle any favors while this
generation that very bold catamaran line definitely helps make this vehicle
really look extremely bold but I feel like Hyundai sort of flip-flopped it on
the 2019 model by sort of adding a catamaran catamaran line up here which
is sort of going to be this very thick and bold looking satin silver running
all the way across the width of the vehicle
hoping glue the daytime running lights with Hyundai’s cascade and grille design all right so now let’s talk about the
side profile design of both the 2018 and 2019 models so let’s first look at the
2018 model once again and from the side profile this vehicle definitely looks
extremely attractive looking I really like how Hyundai has a very blunt front
fascia right there as well as a relatively blunt rear right there but
Hyundai is going to rake in that rear window right there stead of giving a bit
more of a sloping and elegant and sort of a sleek look from the side also you
will notice it’s very bold and strong character line running all the way down
the side of the vehicle and then running up right here into your hip line right
above your rear taillights you also have your turn signal indicators right up
there like I mentioned earlier and you will also have your window which is
going to pinch towards the rear as well we’ll see how that affects visibility
later on below there you have plastic cladding all the way around the bottom
of the Santa Fe sport definitely hoping with the overall rugged and athletic
look from the side profile and you will also get these plastic roof rails for
moving on over here looking at your a pillar you also notice that it is sort
of sweats back quite a bit running all the way up here the highest point on
this side profile definitely looks like it’s going to be right around there
right above the drivers head so that should help with overall front seat
Headroom and it is going to taper ever so slightly towards the rear we’ll see
how that affects rear headroom as well as cargo space but looking at the rims
on the 2018 hyundai santa fe sport right here we are going to have the 2.4 liter
model like I mentioned earlier so these are going to be 17-inch alloy wheels
right here with your optional roof rails now
if you want to get larger 18 or 19 inch wheels you will have to step up to the
sport 2.0 T and the sport 2.0 T ultimate trim level the sport 2.0 T will give you
18 inch wheels and the 2.0 T ultimate will give you your 19 inch wheels now
these chrome door handles are going to be standard on all of your Hyundai Santa
Fe sport models so they definitely look extremely attractive looking and help
with the overall premium and upscale exterior presence of this vehicle now
let’s look at the 2019 model of the Santa Fe so looking at the 2019 mark
when you notice that it is going to have a little bit more of a longer appearance
definitely to the eye and I feel like Hyundai sort of execute that by giving
you a little bit longer of an overall window that doesn’t taper in towards the
top towards the end it is going to remain very thick all the way throughout
definitely helping with the overall appearance of this vehicle looking a lot
larger now looking over here at the front fascia once again it is still
going to have that very blunt front fascia up there definitely has in a very
aggressive and bold appearance from the side now this character line is going to
run all the way from your front headlight all the way down the side of
the vehicle run up onto your hip line and meet with your taillight design back
there definitely once again it looks very attractive looking now your mirror
is not going to have that turn signal indicator like I mentioned earlier you
will have to step up to that limited trim level on the 2019 Center fit in
order to get that feature now looking at your door handles this is actually one
area that I’m not necessarily a huge fan of why Hyundai sort of dropped it but
you do not have those chrome door handles as standard equipment anymore
this is going to be that body-colored door handle right there if you want
those more upscale and premium looking door handles you will have to step all
the way up to the limited and ultimate trim levels in order to get that but you
will notice that you are still going to have that proximity key functionality on
your front driver’s door now below there one thing I really like is how they are
going to carry over this very attractive looking chrome bar at the lower portion
of the side as well as still keeping at the overall plastic cladding running all
the way along the bottom of the vehicle for the sides who still remain having a
very aggressive athletic and rugged look now coming to the rear of the vehicle
Hyundai sort of made the rear window of the vehicle a little bit more vertical
and less tilted in like the previous generation and you’re also going to
notice that the roofline doesn’t seem to slow down as rapidly either in this
model so we’ll also see how that affects over your head room and looking at the
highest point of the side profile it looks like the highest point is going to
be right around there where the drivers head will be so that should help with
overall front seat Headroom if you are a taller driver but looking out at the
rear you will also notice that it is still going to have that very blunt rear
end with a bumper that doesn’t protrude too much out from the tailgate so I
would definitely be a little bit concerned if you didn’t do get in a
rear-end collision or something like that I don’t know how that bumper will
protect that tailgate costs maybe a little bit more expensive because I
believe the previous generation had a bumper that did sort of stick out just a
little bit more for minor fender benders but honestly that is a little nitpick
that should not be too much of a concern now looking at the rims here this is
where I really like the 2019 rims a lot more than the 2018 so on the 2019 model
we are going to have 18-inch alloy wheels right here because we have the
SEL Plus model if you go for that base SE and one step up from that SEL trim
level you will get 17-inch alloy wheels but like I said we have SEL plus so we
will have these pretty attractive looking 18-inch alloy wheels they are
going to have a total of 10 spokes right here very similar to the previous
generation which also had 10 spokes but it is but the 2019 model is going to
sort of have a two-tone design right here it is going to have a aluminum
accent right here with a dark gunmetal trim on the inner portion definitely
makes these wheels look almost as if they’re in forward motion different
looks extremely attractive looking over the more sporty rims on the 2018 model
year and if you want to get even larger 19-inch rims you will have to step up to
the limited and ultimate trim levels which will give you those 19 inch alloy
wheels but overall both the 2018 and the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe sport
look at pretty attractive looking from the side
profile alright so now let’s talk about the rear design of both of these
vehicles so let’s first look at the 2018 model right here so looking at the 2018
model focusing up here you are going to notice that it is going to have a shark
fin antenna and right below there it will come standard with this rear
spoiler this is going to be standard on all of your Santa Fe sports for the 2018
model year coming over here in the center you are going to have your led
third brake light as well as your rear window which is going to have a pretty
rate forward sort of stance right here definitely helping with the overall
sleek and sporty rear fascia appearance on the Santa Fe sport blow there you
will have this strong character line that is going to run all the way
underneath your with rear window and then you will also have your rear
windshield wiper which is going to come standard on all of your Santa Fe sports
as well since this is a crossover now below there you are going to have your
tail light design these are going to be incandescent tail lights if you want LED
tail lights you are going out to step up to the top-of-the-line 2.0 T ultimate
trim level but right here these incandescent tail lights are pretty
attractive looking this is going to be your brake light right here when you
turn on your headlights this portion will turn on at nighttime this would be
your incandescent turn signal indicator which is going to be red and then right
under there you will have your reverse light for 2017 the Santa Fe did get a
mid-cycle refresh so it is going to have this darker tail light module which
definitely gives a rear fascia of this vehicle a bit more of a sporty
appearance coming over to the right you are going to have your very large and
bold Hyundai logo and under there you will have your SantaFe logo right there
and on the other side you will have sport lettering once again you are gonna
have another strong character line running all the way on the bottom of
your license plate area definitely giving this vehicle once again a bit
more of a wide stature and nature to the rear and below you’re still going to
have that camera inline similar to what’s on the front fascia helping with
the overall with appearance of this vehicle coming over here
lower in the fascia these are going to be your rear bumper reflectors and
coming all the way beneath there you are going to have a single tail pipe back
here with some more of that gray cladding with black plastic
cladding above there and then your body color I really like the transition
between three colors definitely adds a bit more of a premium factor to the rear
on all three of the 2018 Santa Fe sport definitely lives up to the sport name
definitely has a very sporty exterior presence now coming over here to the
2019 model Hyundai did change quite a bit on this vehicle coming up here to
the top you are still going to have that shark fin antenna right below there you
will also have this standard spoiler similar to the 2018 model year which is
going to consider all of your trim levels as well as your third brake light
located right here I really like how the spoiler has this black glossy plastic
lining underneath definitely gives it a bit more of a premium and upscale
ambiance while looking at the rear of this vehicle now the rear glass like I
mentioned is going to be a little bit more upright on the 2019 model year over
its predecessor so it’s definitely going to look like it is going to be a little
bit larger than the 2018 model especially when you are looking at the
rear but coming below there Hyundai is still
going to offer that very strong character line running all the way
across with your rear windshield wiper and then below there you will have your
incandescent tail lights very similar to the previous generation if you want to
get those LED tail lights you are going to have to step up to the limited and
ultimate trims so you will have your incandescent brake light right here if
you turn on your headlights at nighttime this tail light module will light up as
well in an incandescent bulb running all the way along here you will have this
pretty strong very similar to what’s on the front fascia actually sort of
carrying it over to the rear that satin silver finish running all the way across
in that bar type of style connecting the taillights on either end right above
there your large chrome Hyundai logo and over here you are going to have your
Santa Fe nameplate and unlike the 2018 model you are not going to have any
sport on that other side since Hyundai has dropped that sport nameplate for the
2019 model year now coming below there and the lower fascia you also have your
incandescent turn signal indicator which is going to be an amber light I really
love amber light on this fugle I like how
they put it lower in the fascia very similar to something like the Kia
Sportage I really like that overall design definitely looks extremely
attractive looking and sort of pushes its vehicle a little bit higher than the
previous generation also you will have more of that satin silver finish that is
going to run all the way along the side and meet up with your rear wheel well
definitely once again adding a bit more of that premium nature your parking
sensors are going to be well integrated back here as well you also have this
black cladding on the rear helping with the overall rugged look as well as some
gray cladding to contrast off of that black and the white and just like the
2018 model year at the Santa Fe for the 2019 model you will also have a single
tailpipe over there all the way on the right which is going to have sort of
like that same satin silver accenting that you find up here on that tailpipe
finishing off and putting icing on the cake on this Santa Fe
oh no the 2019 and the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe s are very attractive looking
vehicles from the rear alright so now let’s talk about the exterior dimensions
of both the 2018 and 2019 models of the Santa Fe five passenger so looking at
the 2018 model right here it is going to have a width of 74 inches while the
width of the 2019 model is going to come in at seventy four point four inches
which is just about a half an inch wider than the 2018 model year but both of
these vehicles are going to be just about two inches an hour then their
mid-sized SUV competitors but both are just about one to two inches wider than
their compact SUV competitors also I did want to point out how this thick satin
silver bar that stretches to either end of the front fascia on the 2019 model
overall truly accentuates the width now when it does come to the overall height
of these vehicles the 2018 model and the 2019 model are both going to be
measuring at the same height as sixty six point one inches now despite the
2019 model not growing in the height Department the Santa Fe for the 2019
model year still remains right in line with most of its competitors and midsize
SUV competitors in terms of height even though Fords edge is just about one to
two inches taller than both of these Santa Fe
models alright so looking at the side profile of both of these vehicles the
2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport is going to come in at 185 inches in length while
the 2019 model year is going to be just about 2.8 inches longer at 187 point 8
inches now the 2018 model year is going to be closer to the overall length of
some of its compact competitors like T Volkswagen Tiguan the Toyota rav4 and
the Chevrolet Equinox but this new redesign has pushed the santa fe closer
to the mid-sized SUV territory slotting in at approximately the same length as
something like a ford edge now as far as the wheelbase goes and the wheelbase is
going to be from the middle of that wheel to the middle of that wheel and
the same thing on the 2019 for the middle of that wheel to the middle of
that wheel so in the 2018 model year the length of the wheelbase is going to be
one hundred and six point three inches while the length on the 2019 model year
is going to be just about two point six inches longer by one hundred and eight
point nine inches now when considering the 2018 model its wheelbase is going to
be measured in at just about 1.5 inches more than competitors like the Toyota
rav4 and the Honda CRV but now with the 2019 model into the mix that margin is
even larger measuring in at just about four inches longer than the Toyota rav4
and the Honda CRV but just about three inches shorter than some of its midsize
entries like the Ford Edge alright so now let’s quickly talk about the pricing
of both the 2018 and 2019 models so for the 2018 model the Santa Fe sport is
going to range anywhere from twenty four thousand nine hundred fifty dollars for
a base 2.4 liter front-wheel drive model to just about forty thousand dollars for
a fully specked out all-wheel drive 2.0 T ultimate model now the starting prices
for each trim level if you go for that base 2.4 liter model is going to be
twenty four thousand nine hundred fifty dollars and there will be a total of
three packages and if you go for that 2.0 T model it is going to be priced at
just around thirty one thousand three hundred fifty dollars and if you go for
that top-of-the-line 2.0 T ultimate model it will run at just about
thirty-five thousand six hundred fifty dollars for your base model there will
be one available package for that vehicle as well so it will push that
price just a little bit higher if you option for that a novel drive is going
to add an extra one thousand five hundred and fifty dollars to all the
trim novels available for the 2018 model year alright so now let’s talk about the
pricing for the 2019 model so pricing for the 90 model is going to be ranging
anywhere from twenty-five thousand five hundred dollars for a base SC
front-wheel drive model to just about forty thousand dollars for a fully
equipped range-topping ultimate with the 2.0 liter turbocharged
engine and all-wheel drive now starting prices for each trim level if you go for
that base S II with the 2.4 liter engine it is going to start at just about
twenty five thousand five hundred dollars which is going to be an increase
of just about five hundred and fifty dollars over its predecessors base price
now the base S II unlike the 2018 model shown right here it will come standard
with Hyundai smart cent suite of active safety features so in a nutshell you are
going to be getting all of the safety technology plus even more that you would
have gotten in the most expensive 2018 model in the least-expensive 2019 model
if you go for that SEL 2.4 liter it will be priced at twenty-seven thousand six
hundred dollars the SEL plus with the 2.4 liter engine will be priced at
twenty nine thousand eight hundred dollars the limited 2.4 liter will be
priced at thirty two thousand three hundred dollars and that ultimate with
the 2.4 liter will go all the way up to just about thirty five thousand four
hundred and fifty dollars for a base model of that trim level now if you want
the 2.0 liter turbocharged engine you’ll need to step up to the limited and
ultimate trim levels to receive it as an option so if you want that 2.0 liter
turbocharged engine on your limited trim level you will have to pay just about
thirty four thousand two hundred dollars and then if you want that engine on the
ultimate to 102 you will have to spend just about thirty seven thousand one
hundred dollars for a top-of-the-line model and if you want all-wheel drive
that is going to address about $1,700 to whichever trim level you want to add it
to and there will also be a nine hundred and eighty dollar destination charge in
the United States all right so now let’s talk about these starting prices of both
of these vehicles compared to their competition so compared to other midsize
SUVs on the market wellthey 2018 and the 2019 models of the
santa fe are going to undercut their competitors by quite a bit so if you are
looking at competitors such as jeeps grand cherokee Nissan’s Murano and even
Ford’s edge they’re all going to start just around the $30,000 mark which is
just about $5,000 more than a base 2018 and 2019 Santa Fe now if you want to
look at the compact utility vehicle segment both the 2019 and its
predecessor will be priced very similarly ranging anywhere from five
hundred to three thousand dollars more than competitive base model entries in
the compact utility vehicle segment alright so now let’s talk about the
Santa Fe’s competition in general so in a nutshell the Santa Fe is an
in-betweener type of vehicle therefore it can compete in both the compact
utility vehicle segments and the midsize utility vehicle segment and you may be
asking why that is the case and that’s because the Santa Fe sport and more so
the 2019 model is sized closer to mid-size utility vehicles but in terms
of pricing both the 2018 and 2019 models are priced closer to compact utility
vehicle offerings so we are looking at midsize utility vehicle competitors some
of those competitors can include the Ford Edge the Jeep Grand Cherokee and
the Nissan Murano well if you’re looking at compact utility vehicle competitors
some of those competitors can be the Toyota rav4 the Nissan Rogue the
Volkswagen Tiguan the Chevrolet Equinox the Honda CRV and the Ford Escape and if
you are looking at other vehicles that sort of are in this same class as an
in-betweener type of car you can’t be looking at the Subaru Outback as well as
the Dodge Journey all right so now let’s talk about what’s
under the hood of these vehicles and pretty much what
Hyundai has changed over the 2018 to the 2019 model year so let’s first
walk up to the 2018 vehicle right here and to open up the hood is actually
going to be extremely easy you just come right above the Hyundai logo you put
your hand right under here and push right up and open the hood right on up
now the hood is going to have these struts so it is going to open up the
rest of the way very easily you don’t really have to be strong at all I
literally just used my middle finger and it just opened right on up with no
problem so under the hood of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport there are going
to be a total of two available engine options that you can choose from so your
base engine is going to be the one that you are going to be looking at right
here which is going to be a 2.4 liter naturally aspirated inline four-cylinder
engine and then your second engine option is going to be a 2.0 liter
turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine now most of its competitors in the
midsize SUV segment is going to come standard with or have optional v6
engines but the 2018 Santa Fe is going to be sticking to four cylinders at
least if you go for the five passenger model now like I said this vehicle is
going to be featuring the 2.4 liter naturally aspirated gasoline
direct-injected inline four-cylinder engine and this
engine is going to produce just about 185 horsepower at 6300 RPM and 178
pound-feet of torque at 4000 250 rpm and this is going to be the only engine
available on that base 2.4 liter model now if you step up to the next engine in
this vehicle that is going to be the 2.0 liter turbocharged dual overhead cam
gasoline direct injected inline four-cylinder engine which is going to
produce quite a bit more horsepower than that base engine is going to produce 240
horsepower at 6,000 rpm and quite a bit more torque as well at 260 pound feet of
torque at 1,750 to 3000 rpm now this engine is only going to be available on
the 2.0 T and the top-of-the-line 2.0 T ultimate trim level
but both engines are going to be paired to a traditional six-speed Automatic
transmission and front-wheel drive is going to be standard but all-wheel-drive
is available for both engine choices but now let’s go over here and look at what
Hyundai has changed for the 2019 model year so to open up the 2019 Hyundai
Santa Fe hood it is going to be just a little bit different it’s not going to
be directly above the Hyundai logo it is going to be slightly to the right you
just put your hand under here and you push to the left and open it right on up
and once again Honda you’re still going to equip this vehicle with those helpful
struts the hood does feel a little bit heavier than the previous generation it
could just be because they use different struts or it could just actually be
because the hood is a little bit heavier but overall it’s not really too big of a
deal because Hyundai does assist the hood all the way up once you do click
that button so under the hood of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe there are going to
be a total of two engine options for your five passenger model you are going
to have the same exact 2.4 liter naturally aspirated inline four-cylinder
engine as standard equipment and a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder
engine which is going to be your optional engine for the 2019 model year
now these are going to be the same engines that the third generation models
had but they are going to be slightly tweaked and when you are looking at most
midsize SUVs they are going to like I said earlier come standard with v6
engines but Hyundai is still going to be sticking with four-cylinder engines for
the 2019 model year now like I said this is the 2.4 liter naturally aspirated
gasoline direct-injected inline four-cylinder engine so it is
pretty much a direct comparison to this vehicles engine pretty much the exact
same engine put right inside of this vehicle and you should expect this
vehicle to produce 185 horsepower at 6000 rpm which is just about 300 rpm
earlier than 2018 models but the horsepower rating is going to be
identical as its predecessor now it’s going to produce just about 178
pound-feet of torque which is once again the exact same as its 2018 model but
that is going to be available just a little bit earlier at 4000 rpm as a
4250 rpm and its predecessor if you go for that more powerful 2 litre
turbocharged dual overhead cam gasoline direct-injected
inline four-cylinder engine you are actually going to see a slight decrease
in horsepower ratings that previous generation did produce 240 horsepower at
6000 rpm but now for 2019 the Santa Fe is going to be producing 235 horsepower
at 6000 rpm and if you are looking at the torque figures for this all-new
model you should be expecting just about 260 pound feet of torque at 1450 to 3500
rpm which is going to be the exact same as the 2018 model but it is going to be
available a little bit earlier and it’s going to have a bit more of a broad
powerband when it does come to that overall torque number so you should
expect this vehicle to feel a little bit more peppy and have a little bit more
power off the line and a lot more instant torque off the line due to this
engine having more torque available earlier on in the power band as opposed
to its predecessor now the 2.4 liter naturally aspirated gasoline
direct-injected engine is going to be available on all trim levels for 2019
while that’s smaller yet more powerful 2 liter turbocharged engine is only going
to be available on your higher-end trim level such as the limited and ultimate
trims now new for 2019 both engines will be paired to a Hyundai in-house designed
8-speed automatic transmission and Hyundai claims that this new
transmission will provide extra thrust off the line in an overall quieter and
more fuel-efficient driving demeanor and front wheel drive is going to be
standard but just like its predecessor all-wheel drive is going to be available
for both engine choices now just like any family vehicle you may
be wondering why fuel efficiency you should expect in both models so on the
2018 model to open up this fuel door all you have to do is come to the front door
right here and pull this little tab and it will open up your fuel door so the
fuel efficiency that you should expect on the 2018 model if you go for that
base 2.4 liter engine it’s actually going to be the most fuel efficient
option if you want to travel the furthest for the cheapest amount of
money so if you go for the front-wheel drive model you should expect 21 miles
per gallon in the city 27 miles per gallon on the highway and 24 miles per
gallon combined and if you option for all-wheel drive you are going to see a
one mile per gallon decrease in the city and in the highway any two mile per
gallon decrease combined so that is going to push your fuel economy ratings
to 20 in the city 26 on the highway and 22 combined now if you go for that 2
litre turbocharged engine if you go for that front-wheel drive model you should
expect 20 miles per gallon in the city 28 miles per gallon on the highway and
23 miles per gallon combined and if you go for the front-wheel drive on that 2.0
ultimate with the turbocharged engine you should expect 20 miles per gallon in
the city 27 miles per gallon on the highway and 23 miles per gallon combined
and you are going to notice that there is going to be a slight decrease when it
does come to the highway rating and that’s mainly going to be because of the
larger 19-inch wheels and most likely the overall heavier weight of that
top-of-the-line model and if you choose the option for all go drive on that
2-liter turbocharged engine you should expect 19 miles per gallon in the city
26 miles per gallon on the highway and 22 miles per gallon combined and if you
go over all wheel drive on that ultimate trim level you should expect 19 miles
per gallon in the city 24 miles per gallon on the highway and
21 miles per gallon combined and Hyundai also makes it pretty easy to open up
this fuel door you just turn it and you can hook it right onto here to prevent
it from scratching on your paint or anything and you just remove it
put it right on there it’s not going to be a capitalist design but let’s go
ahead and check out the 2019 and see what Hyundai changed all right so on the
2019 model Hyundai actually makes it a little bit different to open up the fuel
door to open up the fuel door it’s actually not going to be lockable you
just push it and it opens right on up and it’s still going to have your fuel
cap you just turn it take it off and you can hook it right there to prevent it
from scratching the paint and you could just put it right back on no capitalist
design unfortunately but honestly that’s not too big of a deal but I definitely
would have liked to have seen especially since this is a 2019 model and a lot of
vehicles are starting to go towards that but in comparison to the 2018 model
Hyundai claims that you should expect a three to four percent increase in fuel
economy for the 2019 Santa Fe over the 2018 model unfortunately the EPA only
disclosed 2019 2.4 liter naturally aspirated EPA ratings at the time of
this recording but nevertheless let’s just go over the 2.4 liter engine since
that is the engine that we do have right here so if you go for that 2.4 liter
naturally aspirated engine which is going to be your standard engine if you
go for the front-wheel drive you should expect 2 mile per gallon increase in the
highway driving and 1 mile per gallon increase in City and combined driving in
comparison to its predecessor so you should be looking at 22 miles per gallon
in the city 29 miles per gallon on the highway and 25 miles per gallon combined
and if you go for all go drive you will see a 1 mile per gallon increase across
the board to 21 miles per gallon in the city 27 miles per gallon on the highway
and 23 miles per gallon combined now Hyundai is able to increase that fuel
economy over the 2018 model most likely due to the 8-speed automatic
transmission available actually standard in the 2019 model as well as the
intelligent Auto stop-and-go technology or Hyundai also likes to call it is G now in comparison to all other midsize
SUVs the 2018 and 2019 santa fe 5 passengers get best-in-class fuel
economy figures but the santa fe really trails behind its most fuel-efficient
compact utility vehicle competitors by up to 7 miles per gallon combined so
when it does come to fuel economy it makes most sense to cross shop the Santa
Fe with its mid-sized competitors alright so now let’s look at the door
panel design on the 2018 model now the 2010 model that we have here is going to
come equipped with the smart key access system so all you have to do is make
sure that you have the key fob on you you press this button once it will
unlock the door and if you press it again it will lock the door so opening
up the door you are going to notice that on the upper portion you will have this
pretty neat-looking Brown upper door panel insert sort of has like a leather
imitation material to it but it is going to be somewhat soft to the touch not
extremely plush but it should be pretty good if you are wrestling your elbow on
it now below there you are going to have sort of like this canvas like material I
actually really like the feel of this material it’s a little bit on the
scratchy side when you are like scratching it but it still has a pretty
plush feel to it as well feels very similar to the upper door panel in terms
of plushness now coming below there you are going to have this gunmetal accent
that is going to wrap and swoop all the way around all the way down leading to
your fuel door opener and it is going to wrap all the way beneath your armrest
and your armrest actually is going to be pretty plush look at how much that
indents actually a pretty plush armrest on this 2018 model and inside of here
you are going to have your lots your window locks your auto up and down for
both your driver and your front passenger and your rear windows are not
gonna have auto up or down but that is pretty much expected I really like they
were a feel of these window switches though definitely feel very high quality
I like how they have like that gunmetal accenting over there are no
rounded definitely sort of makes these window switches with a lot more upscale
and premium and instead if you are going to have a little bit of a rubber padding
so that your keys don’t slide around inside of there whatever you may put
inside of there and right over here you will have your window controls and
beneath there you also have a bottle holder with some large cubbies and a
speaker to your six-speaker audio system since we do not have the technology
package on this base 2.4 liter engine model you are going to get a six-speaker
audio system as opposed to that premium infinity audio system and coming beneath
there your saw is all going to be hard to the touch plastic but that’s pretty
much what you want down here especially when your feet are kicking it in just in
case if you spill your drink inside of there and you’re also going to have this
reflector down there on the bottom making the overall headlight and
taillight design but yet see how a standard sized water bottle this is just
about a 16 ounce water bottle fits inside of this bottle holder and it is
going to fit with no problem actually it’s pretty loose inside of there that’s
actually no issue for the Santa Fe sport now let’s see how a 1 liter water bottle
fits inside of there and that’s also going to fit in there with no problem so
you can rest assured that you can fit both a 1 liter water bottle as well as a
16 ounce water bottle inside of this bottle holder so Hyundai definitely
gives you pretty large bottle holders inside of the Santa Fe sport for the
2018 model year but let’s go and check out the 2019 and see how that vehicle
compares alright so now let’s look at the door panel design on the 2019 model
and just like the 2018 model this vehicle is going to come with that
proximity key so all you have to do is make sure you have the key fob on you
press this button once it will unlock the door and press it again and it will
lock the door and beep the car so that you know it did lock so let’s press it
again and open up the door and looking at the door panel you are going to
notice that the upper portion is going to have a pretty similar plushness to
the previous generation in terms of the door panel it’s also going to have a
very similar leather and imitation type of texture to it it’s not going to be
brown though the previous generation had this brown this one is going to be black
a little bit more traditional to other vehicles I actually really liked the
brown on the 2018 model now coming below there you’re also going to have this new
insert on the door panel definitely looks pretty neat as opposed to the dark
gunmetal accenting on the 2018 you are going to have sort of like this faux
carbon-fiber but not really it sort of has like a diamond shape to it it
definitely looks pretty interesting when you touch it it feels okay can feel a
little bit higher quality but overall that is really nitpicking honestly
because how often are you actually touching on this area anyways but right
below they are gonna have your door handle design which is going to have a
pretty neat design to it and behind there this is all going to be hard touch
plastic definitely what I like to see in this some type of soft touch plastic
especially since it’s near your door handle and you are going to be touching
this area quite often and below there you are going to sort of have like this
polyurethane insert here and not like the leather insert on the previous
generation definitely would have liked to have seen that as well but overall I
mean you can’t really complain too much it still has sort of like a plushness to
it but the 2018 model was definitely a lot more plush and it did come to this
overall door panel armrest insert now over here you are going to have all of
your mirror controls your door locks as well as your window control window
controls actually feel a lot more high quality I really like the feel of these
and I believe the front driver and front-passenger
are going to be auto up and down while your rear seat are not going to be auto
up and down but they will still be powered and you also have your child
safety locks for the windows and behind there you also have a cubby with a
rubber insert on the bottom so that your things don’t slide around inside of
there and coming below there you are going to have this very attractive
looking speaker here now since we have the SCL package who you are going to get
a slight upgrade over the previous generation even though both are priced
very similarly this model is going to come with that infinity premium audio
system with surround sound and we’re going to listen to it a little bit later
on and see how it sounds but looking at the overall design here i love this
geometric 3-dimensional sort of has like a concave and convex
design all throughout definitely looks extremely attractive looking and then
below they’re very similar to what’s found on the front grille you are going
to have that satin silver trim running all the way down there leading to where
it says infinity so that you know and all your passengers know that you have
that premium audio system and coming below there this is all going to be hard
to the touch plastic and inside of there you’ll have a little cubby as well as a
bottle holder actually a little bit less space in the bottom door panel cubby
definitely would have liked to have seen them increase the space or at least keep
the space the same but let’s see how a water bottle fits inside of here so we
have our 16 ounce water bottle right here and it is going to fit with no
problem very similar to the 2018 models going to have lots of wiggle room so
let’s see how the 1 liter water bottle fits now it’s a little bit more of a
tight fit the 2018 model definitely fit it a little bit easier but overall when
you do put this 1 liter water bottle in there it is going to fit all right so now let’s talk about the
front seat comfort inside of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport so sitting inside
of the vehicle you are going to have a 12 way power adjustable driver seat so
you can’t move it all the way up all the way back you can move the thigh support
over here up and down as well as actual seat up and down as well and you can
also move your backrest forward and backwards and you will also have a
four-way power lumbar support on your passenger side you are going to have a
total of a six-way powered passenger seat which is also pretty good you are
still going to have that height adjustability and all that stuff well
you won’t have your lumbar support on your passenger side unfortunately but
sitting inside of these seats they do have a pretty decent amount of
bolstering both for your torso and down here for your thighs as well the actual
seat itself is going to be leather and it is going to have a very premium feel
to it it sort of feels a little bit like leatherette it’s not like a super high
quality premium leather but definitely feels extremely good and you definitely
know that it is leather is also going to be perforated as well right here and
overall these seats feel very comfortable they’re not extremely plush
but they are going to be very supportive now
this steering wheel is also going to be manually adjustable it is going to be
telescoping as well as have height adjustability height adjustability is
pretty decent and telescope is actually pretty far so that’s pretty good so all
in all will be pretty easy to get comfortable inside of the front seat at
least in the drivers area in the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport all right so sitting inside of the 2019
Santa Fe now like I said both of these vehicles are priced very similarly but
this model is not going to come with leather seats unfortunately it is going
to have cloth seats but I really love the feel these cloth seats they
definitely feel very upscale and premium not like a base models cloth seats at
all the bolstering is going to sort of have like a very soft and plush almost
like a canvas like material and then the center portion where you’re actually
going to be sitting on is going to sort of have like a colloid like material
definitely looks extremely attractive looking and then on the outer portion of
your bolster you are going to have a dark grey accent now unlike the 2018
model this vehicle is only going to come with a 10-way power driver’s seat you’re
still going to have your up-and-down for your entire seat as well as your front
bolstering and you can also move the whole seat forward and backwards as well
as your seat back as well as your lumbar support but you are only going to get a
two way lumbar support instead of this vehicle as opposed to the 2018 which had
a four-way lumbar support but sitting inside of these seats they are going to
have a pretty neat feel to them there are going to be a relatively plush
actually very plush a lot more plush than what’s found on the 2018 model
definitely a lot more comfortable in my opinion and they are going to hold you
in place fairly well I feel like the bolsters are a little bit less
aggressive on this model they aren’t going to be as beefy as what you find
inside of the Santa Fe sport as well as the bottom bolstering it’s not going to
be as beefy but still will hold you in place especially if you’re wider in your
stature also this steering wheel is going to be manual adjustability you can
have your telescoping as well as your tilt functionality actually have a lot
more range of motion when it does come to tilt I really like that and the
telescoping actually feels like it’s a little bit more motion as well you can
see how close I can really get to the steering one I pretty much have this
seating just about in the same and I just feel like this steering was a
lot more closer to me so all in all you will probably get a little bit more
comfortable a little bit easier to get comfortable inside of the 2019 MOU
despite the 2018 model having a bit more adjustability I feel like it’s a lot
easier to get used to and pretty much accustomed to the overall seating
position instead of the 2019 model all right I won’t step inside of the
Santa Fe sport for the 2018 model year and the door is going to have a very
solid sound to it let’s close it one more time very very solid it’s it’s very
very interesting though because this vehicle was first introduced for the
2013 model year and that door sounds crazy good especially for a model that
has been out for so long but all you have to do is put your foot on the brake
and make sure you have the key fob inside of the car and I do want to talk
about this overall key fob design really quick so since we have the premium and
the value package on this 2.4 liter model inside of the Santa Fe sport you
are going to get this upgraded key fob design definitely looks extremely
attractive looking you’re going to have your lock your unlock as well as your
hold button to open up your power-assisted trunk and then only at
the bottom you will have your panic button down there it is going to have a
glossy finish on the left side you will have this pretty neat looking chrome
accent running down the middle there and then on the rear side and over here on
this portion will be a hard to the touch but sort of like a glove
imitation portion right there I feel like this key will probably get
scratched up really easily especially if you have in your pocket with other keys
and it also is extremely prone to fingerprints but overall I can’t
complain too much it’s also going to have a key inside of there if you press
this little Chrome button right there a key will come out just in case if the
battery dies inside of here but like I said make sure you have the key fob
inside of the vehicle put your foot on the brake and push this button right
here to start it up and once you turn on the vehicle you
will get quite a bit of engine noise come into the cabin from that 2.4 liter
engine but all in all the sound tightening is pretty good inside of here
but let’s rev the engine really quick you get quite a bit of engine noise
inside of the cabin especially when you’re just sitting here at idle and
revving it that is pretty much a good thing and a bad thing I don’t really
know how this vehicle drives on the road and how it really sounds on the road
fully when you are driving but all in all the engine doesn’t really protrude
too much inside of the cabin but let’s first look at this gauge cluster design
right here so over here on the left you are going to have your tachometer with a
black face white numbers and a white needle as well as your coolant
temperature over there and on the right side you will have your speedometer
black face white numbers as well as a white needle and your fuel gauge all the
way down there on the bottom right and looking at your LCD screen right here it
is going to be a 3.5 inch screen it is going to look pretty neat is going to
have a black background with your white numbers and letters on there very
similar to your tachometer and your speedometer it definitely looks a bit
archaic on the market especially considering a lot of his competitors are
going towards very upscale looking gauge clusters but we are going to see how
this compares to the 2019 model of course so you can go through the
different pages by pressing the page button located right here and then once
you are on that page you can scroll down using this button and you can go back by
pressing that button so right now we are on that first page if you press the page
button it will take you to your media page press it again it’ll take you to
some of your settings and then you press it again it will take you to user
settings so on your first page we’re gonna have your range your trip a trip B
you’re also going to have your digital speedometer and it will just take you
right back to your range there go to your media I do have my phone plugged in
right now to the aux port so that’s why it says aux right there
I also going to have your tire pressure information as well as your service
interval and it pretty much tells you how many options there are above those
little white dots over there and if you press the page button one more time you
are going to have all of your user settings such as your drivers assistance
features your doors your lights your sound and your convenience
as well as service intervals and a few more features now if you want to enter
into one of these all you have to do is press this button it works as both an
enter and a back button so let’s say I want to go into other features I press
enter and it will give you all of these other features and I’m still looking
inside of the screen it will tell you which gear you are in so if I put the
vehicle into neutral Drive and reverse it will show you different letters up
there and at the bottom it will tell you the temperature outside it is 87 degrees
and it is going and this vehicle is going to have 18 miles on it coming over
here your turn signal indicators feel pretty solid actually extremely solid
inside of this vehicle really this 2018 Santa Fe there’s only showing its age in
some areas I mean the overall quality is still here despite this vehicle getting
slightly long in the tooth in terms of when it was first introduced it still is
a pretty solid vehicle so looking at the steering wheel right here it is going to
have a very stylistic approach to the steering wheel you will have these very
strong crease lines right here as well as your Hyundai logo over here on the
left you will have your volume controls as well as your up/down when you are
going through your different radio stations mute and your mode button and
then coming over here onto the right side you will have all of your cruise
control settings lower from there these will be all your controls for that
screen that I was just showing you and then if you come over here you’ll also
have your hang-up and your pickup as well as your Bluetooth button right
there and this vehicle is going to have a for
spoke steering wheel design which is definitely pretty neat now this vehicle
is also going to have a leather wrap steering wheel with this pretty neat
stitching running all the way on the interior of the rim definitely looks
extremely attractive looking and has a very smooth leather feel to it now
coming over here you are going to have your AC vents and they will be
surrounded by a dark gunmetal accenting as well as a matte finish wood and I
really like this matte finish wood previously when I did review the 2013
model of this vehicle it didn’t have this matte finish but it was a glossy
wood and I did sort of knock it for looking somewhat cheap and chintzy honor
this 2018 model definitely looks very upscale and premium coming below there
you are going to have your guage brightness and dimming so you can
make it darker and you can make it brighter and coming over here you also
have your drive mode so you are gonna have a total of three drive modes inside
of this vehicle so you will have your eco sport and your normal mode and I’m
moving over to your center stack display right here also looks extremely
attractive looking despite its age you are going to have these very aggressive
looking and sort of mimicking the overall front headlight design AC vents
right here and they’re going to be on both sides with some more of that dark
gunmetal accenting it is going to run all the way down the sides right here
all the way up on the top you are going to have your CD port right there and
right up here you can just press that open it right on up and you can put your
sunglasses right inside of there so that’s a pretty neat feature and if we
come up here you will also have your Sun Visor open this up you will have your
mirror and close that on up and if you pull it back and it will also slide to
block out the Sun if you so choose to and right up here you will also have a
light that can turn on and off it’s going to be an incandescent bulb not an
LED bulb if you want LED bulbs I believe you have a step all the way up to the
top of the line ultimate trim level coming over here you are going to have
some more of your lights incandescent bulbs as well as another sunglass holder
just in case if you have two sunglasses and then right over here you just hold
this down and it will open up your rear tailgate coming over here same thing as
what’s on the driver’s side now coming back down here to your center stack this
is going to be a seven inch LCD touchscreen and it definitely looks
pretty good it’s very similar to pretty much what you would find all across the
Hyundai lineup and you’ve really seen this in a lot of my reviews so I’m not
gonna go too in depth with it but if you press the home button there it is going
to give you a little beeper there letting you know that you did press home
you can’t go through all media and it is going to have that swiping functionality
this is an updated touchscreen this was not the original touch screen that this
vehicle had back then but it is going to be very very neat this is very similar
to what was in my 2017 Hyundai Elantra review so if you want to see this screen
and a lot more in-depth definitely check out that 2017 Hyundai Elantra review you
also have apple carplay and enjoyed auto functionality right there
as well as your auxiliary port your phone connectivity pandora radio music
image swipe to the right you also have your Blu link data a quick guide your
climate control as well as Sirius XM data SoundHound voice commands and setup
very responsive touch screen you press the button takes you right
there this is going to be your home screen right here has a very clean
layout if you come over here and press my menus it is going to show what you
have as under Europe my menus and right now we only have Pandora right there
apps an info will take you to the rest of your apps that you have installed in
this vehicle so you have weather and all these pretty neat things which will all
be under your Sirius XM data as well as your sound town your climate control
voice commands and pretty much everything that was on that other page
but just concise to just apps so let’s press back right there and you can also
go to your settings page here has tons of settings pretty much if you wanted to
if you want to adjust your sound display and all those other things very
self-explanatory and very easy to read with very vibrant colors and a black
background now if you come below there this is where all of your audio controls
are going to be located so you have your phone button right here as well as your
apps blue links set up pretty much everything that you had up here on your
all menus page everything that you had on your all’s menus page is pretty much
going to be located right here you’re also going to have your volume knob as
well as your two knob now like I said this vehicle is going to be featuring
that six-speaker audio system as standard equipment so let’s listen to
that right now so I have my phone right here I’m just going to unlock it and
we’re going to see how this sounds not bad at all especially for a
six-speaker audio system I mean it actually has a very surround sound type
of sound now the 2019 model supposedly has a premium audio system by infinity
that is going to be surround sound so we are going to compare that and see if it
is going to sound better but overall this six-speaker audio system definitely
sounds extremely good now I’m not an audiophile or anything
like that so it may not sound extremely good to everyone but to me that sounds
amazing and you can hear for yourself through the recording now coming below
there you are going to have your hazard button as well as all of your climate
controls right here so you’re going to have your temperature down which is
going to show up here on this screen so you sort of press it and then you have
to look up here to see and it’s pretty small up there – all the way up there in
the top left and right corners it will tell you your temperatures now this
vehicle is going to come with that dual zone climate control which is pretty
neat and this is going to be your fan speed definitely can turn into a tornado
inside of here so good to know that Hyundai is putting very strong ACS and
their latest products they also going to have your Auto button right here and you
could just cut off the a/c altogether but let’s turn that back on because it
is extremely hot outside and over here on the sides you will have your gunmetal
accenting like I mentioned earlier and this is going to be your front window
defrost as well as your rear window defroster and over here on the right you
will have your incarceration as well as your AC button right there now over here
on the left you’re also going to notice that this is going to be your push
button start that I demonstrated earlier it is going to have that glossy
accenting around that push button start with sort of like an aluminum button
definitely looks extremely attractive looking and very premium and upscale
especially for the price range of this vehicle now coming below there your are
going to have a cubby right here that my phone fits in with no problem
so that’s definitely a good thing to know this is a Samsung Galaxy s7 edge a
pretty large phone by today’s standards and it fits in there with no problem
over here you are going to have some of your 12-volt power outlets actually
going to have two 12-volt power outlets which is pretty handy and then below
there you will also have a USB port and auxiliary port and that was the way that
I was playing the music through my phone I plug it in through this auxiliary port
now coming below there or coming behind there rather you are going to have your
gear selector which is going to be leather wrapped with a leather boot
right here definitely looks extremely attractive looking and once again very
upscale and premium I really like the value package in the Premium Package all
in all the Premium Package is called premium for a reason you are going to
get quite a bit of premium features inside of the cabin of the 2018 model so
there’s going to luminate Park reverse neutral and drive right there in white
so let’s put the vehicle in Reverse and it is going to display your reverse
camera with pretty decent grading I’m not a huge fan of this greeny actually
actually looks pretty bad and the Sun is starting to go down just a little bit so
you can tell that the graining is not the best I don’t really know how we’ll
look at night time but I can’t imagine a look as much better than this so
hopefully Hyundai did update the overall graining in the 2019 model but
all-in-all this is not a television or anything like that so this vehicle
should offer a pretty good reverse camera but honestly I definitely would
like to see them increase the definition hopefully they do do that in the 2019
model when we go and look at it now coming back below here you’re also going
to have your heated seat controls three-stage for both your driver and
your front passenger you’re also going to have some blank buttons which will be
for your higher and trim levels and this will have this pretty neat gunmetal
accenting running around your gear selector coming behind there you are
going to have your two cupholders and this is your key fob that I actually
found really helpful to put right inside of that little nook that Hyundai gives
you is going to have that rubber bottom padding so it won’t slide around too
much inside of there coming behind there you’re also going to have your leather
wrapped Center armours which is actually not plush at all especially when you are
comparing it to the door panel which is extremely plush over here it sort of
lets you down it’s actually really hard unfortunately but it’s still going to
have this pretty neat stitching and it’s still going to be brown leather
open that on up it’s gonna be pretty deep actually extremely deep it goes
past my 4 I’m almost touching my elbow right there it’s a very deep compartment
and it’s also going to have a removable tray and back here you will also have
some areas to put business cards or sheets of paper if you so choose to and
as far as visibility goes inside of this model visibility is okay you can’t
really see the end of the hood inside of this vehicle that’s one of my complaints
for the 2018 model year I mean I literally cannot see the end of this
hood you have to really raise your seat all the way up and you still can’t
really see the end of this hood hopefully Hyundai update side in the
2019 male which we will take a look at in just a little bit but you are going
to have pretty large mirrors on both sides which are definitely going to be
pretty useful as well as a rear view mirror right there now if you look out
the back this is where most of the visibility is going to be quite
problematic you are going to have a pretty thick d pillar all the way back
there as well as a very small rear quarter window and your headrest is
actually going to cover up most of that rear quarter window so technically that
whole thing is going to be just an area that you cannot see out of definitely a
very thick blind spot that I wish Hyundai did not even include on this
vehicle to begin with but we’ll see if the 2019 model improves on that looking
at the rear though you are going to have a very large rear window and out the
sides can’t really complain too much I have pretty good side visibility as well
but one thing that I didn’t want to talk about is the overall cornering over here
you can’t really see too much because Hyundai does not give you a cornering
window on either side of the vehicle definitely would like to see that as
well but this vehicle is going to come with blind spot monitoring so despite
the terrible blind spots you’re also still going to get blind spot monitoring
which is going to be that little monitor right there I’m not sure if you can see
it on the camera but it’s a little monitor right there that is going to
light up if a vehicle is in your blind spot to prevent any accidents from
happening but overall sitting inside of the 2018 Santa Fe sport it has a very
premium ambience to it but I really want to
20:19 has to offer because I mean when you feel these materials they feel
pretty high-quality is going to have sort of like a rubberized material
appear some more of that canvas material overhearing some more hard to the touch
plastic but I I feel like it could definitely be a lot better so hopefully
the 2019 model really steps it up so let’s go ahead and give it a look
alright so now let’s step on inside of the 2019 model Here I am sitting inside
of the 2019 model once again it is going to have a pretty solid sounding door very solid sounding and a little bit
more of a plush clothes as opposed to previous generation previous generation
did have a little bit more of a solid thud well this is more of a soft yet
solid clothes so to start up the vehicle all you have to do is make sure you have
the key fob inside of the vehicle just like the previous generation since we
have the proximity key on this SEL plus model so right here this is the key fob
design it’s still wrapped in the plastic here but you can see that this is going
to be a glossy black material on the inner portion for your buttons you have
lock unlock as well as your trunk hold senses does have that power trunk as
well as your emerged as well as your emergency panic button right here you
also have some of that chrome accenting running around there as well as a smooth
to the touch plastic right here definitely doesn’t look as premium as
the previous generation at least when it does come to that smooth plastic but I
really like how they are a little bit less forward with the overall Galasso
see black plastic usage I really like how they kept it just to the button as
opposed to the whole half so it shouldn’t be a scratchy but probably
will still be a fingerprint magnet now up here you’re going to have a very bold
and strong chrome sort of like a satin silver accenting on the upper portion
very similar to the front fascias grille design and on the bottom you are also
going to have that in on the rear you will have a Hyundai logo but make sure
you have the key fob inside of the vehicle put your foot on the brake and
push this aluminum accented looking push button start button to start the vehicle and starting up the vehicle there’s a
lot less engine noise that comes inside of the cabin when you do turn on the
vehicle that’s one thing that I’m immediately noticing inside of this
vehicle but look gets first look at the overall gauge cluster inside of here now
looking at this gauge cluster like I said previously the previous generation
was sort of looking a little bit archaic from some angles especially when you
were looking at the gauge cluster most specifically but looking at this gauge
cluster Hyundai has completely turned the tables here it is going to be a lot
more technology focused you’re going to have a very interestingly shaped
tachometer over there so let’s rev the engine really quick and
see how much engine noise protrudes into the cabin a little bit less engine noise
honestly it honestly sounds a lot more hushed inside of the cabin doesn’t seem
like as much noise is protruding into the cabin and I feel like Hyundai
definitely worked on that for sure but looking over here to the left like I
said you are gonna have your tachometer with a black face white needle and white
numbers and over here in the center you are going to have a pretty large seven
inch LCD screen that is going to display lots of information here it actually
looks extremely attractive looking and all the way over here on the right you
will have your fuel gauge as well as your coolant temperature gauge and a
very similar design to your tachometer but let’s go through this screen right
here and to go through this screen you are going to still have very similar
controls you will have your page button right here as well as up down and okay
so let’s press the page button here this is going to display your average fuel
economy press it again and it will take you to all of your safety systems and
then right over here it will give you all of your user settings so right over
here let’s go through this page you will have fuel economy you will also have
your accumulated info you’re driving info and then a digital speedometer and
which drive mode you are in and we’re going to talk about the drive modes in
just a little bit because I actually really love what Hyundai did with the
overall drive modes if we press the page button one more time we will go to all
of our safety systems so you have Lane keep assist
as well as your attention level warning right here so it’s pretty much telling
me that I have high attention level right here and then if you go right down
there I will show you your tire pressure press the button one more time will take
you to all of your driver assistance features now if you want to go inside to
inside of those features all you have to do is click enter so you pretty much
just press ok right here it’s a push in button definitely didn’t notice that at
first I didn’t really notice that okay there so they definitely could have
labeled that a little bit better even made it separate button to press in but
nevertheless that’s honestly sort of nitpicking so just press ok we’ll take
you through there and then to go back you actually have to scroll all the way
up to the top and press back there’s no back button unlike the previous
generation definitely wish Hyundai kept that back button definitely would have
been a little bit more intuitive if they kept that back button but going back you
will have your door settings as well as your light settings sound convenience
service interval other and then a complete reset for the system now all
the way on the right you’re also going to have your average miles until empty
annual have the average miles on this vehicle as well as the temperature
outside 101 degrees Fahrenheit extremely hot right over here you will also have
which gear you’re in Park reverse neutral or drive and the overall
speedometer will be right front and center in the middle with a very very
unique styling to it I really like how it has like that blue accenting in the
rear as well as a black face with white numbers and a sort of like a bluish
white needle I really really love the look of that but let’s now look at the
steering wheel design right here so looking at the steering wheel Hyundai
has actually sort of updated the steering wheel quite a bit I actually
really like this new steering wheel design it definitely feels a lot more
driver focused and it makes you want to drive a little bit more than the
previous generation I really like the overall bolstering here is going to have
perfect 10 and 2 notches as well as 9 and 3 grips something that the previous
generation definitely could have improved on and I really like how Honda
did improve it on this 2019 model all the way over here on the left you will
have your voice control as well as your modes for your different radios
patience you will have your volume up and down as well as your tune controls
pick up and hang up button over there coming over here to the right your page
button as well as your cruise controls over here on the right as well as your
controls to control that Center LCD screen and then right here will be your
distant markers distance markers for your smart cruise control coming to the
center you will have your Hyundai logo right in the middle and you will also
have a little bit more of a round typed shape almost sort of like mimicking the
cascading grille design just a little bit in the overall design here
definitely really like the overall horn cover right here sounds really good with
the horn as well definitely will get people out of the way and then right
below there you also have this pretty neat-looking satin silver accenting on
the lower portion and the steering wheel is still going to be a forceful even
though it does have a very little hole inside of there with some glossy black
piano black finishing right in the middle and it is going to be a leather
wrap steering wheel I feel like this leather is a lot softer and a bit more
supple than what’s found inside of the 2018 model so if you really like how
Hyundai did upgrade their overall leather quality on the steering wheel
and you’re also going to have that nice stitching running all the way on the
interior there now coming over here to the left you are still going to have
your AC vents with very strong character lines over here I mean there’s like this
very deep portion right there that you will probably never touch but everything
just sort of goes towards it it has a very aggressive and overall a very
three-dimensional design that the 2018 model was definitely trying to get at
but definitely did not execute as well as this 2019 model you’re also going to
have this faux stitching right here because this is not going to be leather
sort of like an imitation leather but you are going to have faux stitching
located right there definitely helps give this view a little bit more of a
premium ambiance and then coming below there you can control the dimming of
your gauge cluster right there as well as this will be your lane departure
warning your lane keep assist your blind spot monitoring as well as your traction
control on and off and your trunk button since this vehicle is going to have that
power assisted trunk this is going to be hard to the touch plastic down here but
I mean what more can you expect it’s necessarily the top of the line trim
level and it’s not necessarily an area that is going to be touched too too much
now the turn signal indicators still have a very solid feel to them just like
the previous generation as well now coming over here to the center stack
area you are going to have your seven-inch LCD touchscreen and behind
there you will also have a speaker to your premium infinity audio system which
we are going to listen to in just a little bit I’m really curious as to how
that will sound your upper dashboard is going to be a hard to the touch plastic
but it is going to have sort of like that leather imitation still and coming
up here you are still going to have your mirror right here as well as the light
located right up here that you can turn on and if you close it it will not turn
off the light unfortunately that was the case inside of the Hyundai Elantra
button here that will not turn it off that’s why it was on when I opened it up
I didn’t notice that I still kept it on so that’s definitely a little bit of an
oversight I feel like on Hyundai’s end and if we come over here to the right
you’re also going to have some more incandescent bulbs which can turn on and
off and over here open that on up and you will have a sunglass holder just
like the previous generation Honda actually eliminated the sunglass holder
that was up here to make room for an extra speaker for that premium audio
system now looking at your 7-inch touchscreen
very similar to what’s found in the previous generation 2018 model after all
the 2018 model did get a mid-cycle refresh in 2017 and I believe that’s
when it got its new touch screen design and this is going to be a very similar
touchscreen if not exactly identical so if you go to the radio page it will take
you to radio but also take you the media over here if you have your seek and
track buttons and then if you come over here you also have your home button you
go to home you can also go to your phone as well as your set up controls just
like I said extremely extremely organ onic and I really like how intuitive the
screen is and extremely responsive I’m not gonna go once again to in-depth with
this because I did review this touchscreen on lots of other vehicles
and I just went over inside of the 2018 model you’re going to have volume knobs
located right here as well as two knobs on the right I really
like the overall how overall layout of the – what I really liked how Hyundai
put this touchscreen very high in the dashboard so you don’t really have to
travel with your eyes too much it’s a you’re driving you’re looking forward
you look right over and your touchscreen is right there and you just look right
at it and Hyundai pretty much separates the controls very very neatly and that
was not really the case in the 2018 model I really like how Hyundai did
update the overall organics in this 2019 model now coming below there you’re also
going to have your AC vents a little bit less of a bold styling than what’s found
instead of the 20 and T model but still a very attractive looking and overall a
more formal design you are going to have your hazards right there and coming
below there you will have all of your climate and comfort controls so once
again I really like how Hyundai’s separated you have all of your audio of
media and controls up here and then you will have all of your climate and
comfort controls lower in the dashboard so we are still going to have that dual
zone climate control and everything is going to be displayed in this little
screen right here which I really really like as opposed to the previous
generation where I pretty much emphasize on how small they had it all the way up
in the left corner on the right corner right here it is going to be a lot
easier to read even though you do have to move your eyes from the road a little
bit more to see I just really like how you don’t really have to strain your
eyes as much to find it and but and down here you will still
have your fan speed very strong AC just like the previous
generation and you will still have your three-stage heated seat controls for
both your front driver and your front passenger as well as some more satin
silver accents right here pretty much encompassing the overall climate
controls and coming below there you are going to have a 12-volt power outlet
right there and over here on the right you will have a phone charger port right
there as well as a USB port in your auxiliary port and I have my phone
inside of here and it is going to fit inside a favorite no problem this is
like I said a samsung galaxy s7 edge and just like inside of the 2018 model year
this phone my phone is going to fit in here with no problem but let’s listen to
the overall audio quality instead of this vehicle since it is going to have a
lot more speakers and an infinity premium audio system with surround sound
so let’s see how that sounds really quick all right so listening to that audio
quality actually has I actually can point out the differences right away so
this audio system is going to have a lot more base than the previous generation
and it’s also going to be a little bit lower I did have to turn this audio up
to just about 22 or 23 well the previous generation I had it on 20 and I felt
like it was just loud enough this one I did have to turn it up just a little bit
louder to feel like it was loud enough for me but honestly that’s a little
minor gripe but I feel like it did sort of encompass the vehicle a lot better
and I felt like the sound was traveling a lot better and it really picked up the
low pitch and the high pitch sounds a lot better than the 2018 model so all in
all if you really are into your music sound quality as well as if you are an
audiophile I definitely recommend going for the premium audio system in both the
2018 and the 2019 model now coming below there you are going to have your gear
selector which is going to be closer to the driver so making the cabin a little
bit more driver centric you will have Park reverse neutral and drive is put
into reverse really quick here I’m still going to have your reverse camera very
similar graining unfortunately as the previous generation was definitely
expecting Hyundai to update the graining but it’s very very similar if not
exactly the same but all in all you’re still going to have your guidance lines
with trajectory so as you turn the wheel you are going to see that those lines
are going to move telling you where you are projected to go and right over here
to the right you are going to have two cupholders with rubber inserts on the
bottom and it is a pretty good place to put your key but you can also put your
key back here very similar to the 2018 model you have a pretty large cubby that
you can just put the key right inside of and over here to the left you are going
to have an electronic parking brake as well as your parking sensor on an off
button as well as your auto start and stop for your engine functionality off
and on button right here as well as a hold button said say you’re sitting in
traffic you just pressed this Auto hold and the vehicle will hold its brake for
you and then right here I love this button this is going to be your drive
mode button so right now we are going to be in I believe normal mode so if I
press the drive mode button it is going to put me into sport mode which is going
to change the gauge to red definitely looks extremely attractive looking and
if I press it again it is going to take me into my smart setting and then my
original setting is Comfort I really like how Honda is going to change the
colors of the LCD screen as well as these little bars on the outside
definitely just gives this vehicle a very different genesis a qua when
compared to the 2018 model and all in all I really like the overall upscale
and premium Aviance inside of this vehicle now when it does comes free
overall visibility inside of this vehicle Hyundai also improved it quite a
bit I feel like I can see over the hood a lot easier since the hood is a lot
more horizontal as opposed to the previous generation and coming over here
you’re going to have I feel like slightly larger mirrors than the
previous generation as well as these cornering windows right here so there’s
going to be a lot easier to maneuver inside of traffic and tight city
situations and looking out the rear hyundai also improved rearward
visibility by quite a bit actually a fun fact Hyundai actually increased the
window area inside of this vehicle by 41% which is actually a huge increase
and I feel like most of that window area was added back here you are going to
have a much better reword visibility out the rear as well as over here you are
actually going to have AC pillar anody pillar and a window that can
actually see out of which was not necessarily the case in the 2018 model
and like I mentioned earlier I really love these helpful little windows over
there we’re also going to have your blind spot monitoring standard on all
trim levels through Hyundai’s smart safety sense equipment package so that’s
going to be your blind spot monitoring symbol right there if that lights up
that means the vehicle is in your blind spot but now let’s check out the
passenger seat in both the 2018 and 2019 models to see how they compare
all right so let’s hop on inside of the passenger seat of the 2018 model you’re
still going to have your smart key access system on the front passenger
side as well opening up the door the door panel is going to be very similar
to what’s found on the driver’s side hopping on in the main reason why you
buy an SUV is for the perfect ride height and overall ease to get in and
out of and this vehicle is no exception to that we are going to have more of
that canvas material running all the way up right here are going to have this
very attractive looking and very bold and prominent strong crease line running
all the way across right there with some more of your black imitation plastic up
on the upper portion of the dashboard right below there some of that matte
finish wood and some of your hard touch plastics right here with more of that
Brown look to it and right here you are going to have your glovebox which has a
decent size to it it actually doesn’t look too large I’m going to compare this
to the 2019 model and see how it compares but oh no I really like how
Hyundai did give this vehicle a bin styled type of glovebox
it will have been nice to see sort of like a tube portion cubby design or
something like that but all-in-all this is a pretty usable glovebox right here
and it is going to be hard to the touch plastic but is going to be smooth
plastic so if you spill anything instead if it will be very easy to clean out and
just like on the driver side you are also going to still have some of those
cubbies over there on the side but now let’s check out the 2019 santa fe and
see how the front passenger area compares alright so opening up the front
passenger door on the 2019 santa fe you once again you are still going to have
that smart key access system right there and opening on up the door let’s hop
right on inside the door panel is going to be very similar to what’s found on
the driver’s side as well and closing the door once again still
has a very solid sound to it now looking at the dashboard it’s actually sort of
like an evolution of what was inside of the 2018 model I really like how it is
still going to have the two-tone type of dashboard layout where this is at a
lower portion and this but inside of this vehicle it is going to be a lot
more prominent you’re going to have once again that very strong crease line
running all the way across right there as well as some black imitation leather
plastic up here and down here is some imitation leather with some pretty
neat-looking stitching running all the way across it’s not real stitching
because this is not real leather but it definitely looks pretty neat and below
there you’re going to have a nice cubby and right up here before I forget you
are going to have more of that carbon fiber like trim running all the way
across definitely looks pretty neat especially for the passengers to view
and it is going to merge right onto your door design now like I said you are
going to have this pretty neat cubby right down here which definitely is
going to be pretty helpful especially if you want to just slide your phone right
inside of there definitely pretty helpful for the passenger or if you have
any papers to throw inside of there and to open up this glovebox it is not going
to be a push like the previous generation you are going to pull it like
that and open it right on up and when it this comes with overall size it actually
looks a lot smaller it’s a lot more narrow but it is going to be wider so
it’s not going to be necessarily as usable for larger objects but if you are
going to have longer objects it should fit in here with no problem definitely
would like to have seen Hyundai improve on the overall space but I guess they
sort of made up for that by adding this little cubby on the upper portion to add
a little bit more storage for front seat passengers alright so now let’s check
out the back seats of both of these vehicles all right so let’s check out
the back seat of the 2018 model here so opening up the door the door panel is
going to have very similar finishings as the front doors is going
to have a pretty plush upper portion right here it’s going to be an injection
molded plastic coming below there you’re still going to have that canvas insert
right there as well as your satin silver door handle right there definitely looks
pretty upscale and premium to an you’re very passengers right down here
you’re gonna have that gunmetal swoosh running all the way along all the way
down there you’re also going to have your window switch controls as well as a
little cubby right there with a little bit of a rubber arised insert and then
down here you will have a pretty neat little SantaFe plaque right there
letting everyone know that you have the santa fe at least whoever’s writing in
your backseat they also still going to have that plush armrest carry over from
the front seat so overall the rear seats are going to be extremely similar to was
found on the front seat as far as the door panel design goes all right now
let’s see how our water bottles fit in there’s lower portions you are going to
have this little cubby up there as well do another cubby out in the back very
similar to the front seats put this inside is going to fit with no problem
quite a bit of wiggle room let’s put in the 1 litre bottle here the 1 liter
bottle is not going to fit unfortunately so that’s a little bit of a downside but
overall at least you can fit a traditional 16 ounce water bottle so
let’s hop on into the back seats and let’s close up the door once again a
very solid sound when it does come to the overall door closing now when it
does comes overall space inside of here I’m going to have quite a bit of foot
space under there as well as a pretty helpful we were pocket right there now
we’re going to notice you’re not going to have any rear AC vents right here and
that’s because Hyundai is going to put you AC vents right over here in your B
pillar so it is going to be a lot easier to aim it right at you I really like how
Hyundai did take that design approach and it is going to overall be a lot more
ergonomic and make a lot more sense than other vehicles that choose to put their
AC vents down here and you are also going to have this 12-volt power outlet
back here as well so that rear seat passengers can charge their phone and
electronics and sitting behind myself with the front seat adjusted to my
comfort I have quite a bit of leg room here I have just about right up to my
wrist so definitely pretty good leg room back here
very very abundant and you’re also going to have pretty comfortable seats here as
well once again just like the front seats
going to be extremely plush a bit more on the firm side but all in all it is
going to be very doable and when you look at the Headroom back here you are
going to have a pretty decent amount of headroom especially on the outboard
seats I have just about I say maybe maybe like four to five inches of
headroom which is definitely pretty good we are going to see how that compares to
the center seat but also going to get a center armrest right here leather padded
will also have cup holders that you can put your cups right inside of let’s see
if my 16 ounce water bottle will fit in there yes it will with no problem and
the one liter water bottle will also fit with no problem let’s close that right
on back up and let’s move on into the center now moving into the center you
know so there’s going to be quite a bit of a hump inside of the santa fe sport
for the 2018 model year especially if you are going to be sitting in the
middle seat but let’s move over and sit right here and sitting inside of the
santa fe sport for the 2018 model year in the middle seat you are going to have
a decent amount of headroom probably just about this much Headroom I see just
about two to three inches let me show you guys what it looks like over my head
so that’s pretty much how much Headroom I am going to have inside of the Santa
Fe sport definitely pretty good especially for a midsize SUV and then
right here I did want to show you that this is pretty much be the least
practical way to sit inside of the back seat this is with the front passenger
seat all the way back into tracks as well as the rear seat all the way up in
a 90 degree angle so let’s sit here and see how comfortable it is and honestly
it’s actually pretty doable I mean I wouldn’t sit like this for a long road
trip or anything like that my back will definitely start to hurt but honestly
when you are sitting back here yeah Lake space is a little tight with this seat
all the way back in its tracks and the seat all the way at 90 degrees but it’s
honestly doable for short trips and Hyundai’s also going to give
you these pretty neat sun shades back here to block out the Sun all right so
let’s take a look at the 2019 Hyundai Santa phase back seats all right so now
let’s open up the rear door inside of the 2019 Santa Fe and looking at the
door panel actually very similar to what’s found in the 2018 model you are
still going to have your sunshade right here that will go right on up to block
out the Sun you’re also going to have this pretty soft to the touch imitation
leather black plastic insert right there on the upper portion of your door moving
down you’re going to have still a pretty soft to the touch material very similar
to what’s found on the upper portion there and it is still going to have that
faux leather stitching right there and inside of there you are going to have a
nice little cubby that will prevent anything from sliding around in there
making too many rattle noises since it is going to be a rubber padded on the
bottom you’re gonna have your window switch control as well as your satin
silver door handle and door lock coming below there once again you are going to
have that three dimensional extremely good looking speaker right there with
your Infinity premium audio system labeling right there and then below
there you are going to have some hard to the touch plastics in the lower portion
of your door as well as right down here we are going to have a pretty large
cubby up here and right there in the front to hold a few small objects but
let’s see how our water bottles fit inside of here so I have the 16 ounce
water bottle fits in there with no problem quite a bit of wiggle room let’s
see how the 1 liter water bottle fits and surprisingly that 1 liter water
bottle is going to fit inside of the backseat the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe
unlike the previous generation which it did not fit in the backseat all right so
let’s hop on into the back seats of the 2019 model and just like the 2018 model
very easy to get in and out of this vehicle thanks to the very high roofline
right there and let’s close up the door still a very solid sound not as soft
closing as the front seats but still has a pretty good sound to it
now as far as legroom goes I feel like this one has so much more legroom now I
still have the front seat adjusted to my comfort and I have so much more legroom
right here and I also feel like I have a lot more space underneath the seat as
well and overall the seat in the back seat definitely feels pretty comfortable
compared to the 2019 model coming over here you are going to have your AC vents
Hyundai did move them from the b-pillar and put them down here honestly I really
liked how they had it in the b-pillar not quite sure why they moved them down
here but still at least Hyundai is going to give you AC vents for the rear seat
passengers and down here you can slide your phone into that cubby it’ll fit in
there with no problem and then right down here you are going to have a
charging port for two passengers as opposed to the previous generation which
had a normal 12 volt power outlet this is going to be 2 USB ports down here
which are definitely going to be pretty helpful for anyone who may be using it
and Hyundai also sort of made the floor a lot flatter down there as well you
guys can’t really see it as starting to get a little bit dark outside but the
floor is a lot lot flatter than the previous generations so let’s sit in the
middle seat really quick and I feel like these seats are a lot more plush instead
of the 2019 model especially the seat bottoming just look at how plush that is
compared to the somewhat firm leather inside of the 2018 model sitting back
I’m not a huge fan of this backrest honestly it has a somewhat firm feel to
it it’s not as soft and comfortable feeling as a 2018 model unfortunately
but you are still going to get this centre cup holder portion right here but
you can still put bottles inside of there and our one liter bottle is not
going to fit but our 16 ounce water bottle will fit in there with no problem
and this is also still going to be pretty padded as well and that is padded
as the actual cushions on the seat but still a pretty decent padding let’s
close that on up and then right over here I have this seat as vertical as
possible more vertical than this one and I had this seat all the way back in its
tracks so let’s see how this compares to the
2018 model so sitting all the way on the far end here I’m going to notice that
this is actually a lot more doable than what was found in the 2018 model so due
to hyundai lengthening the wheelbase it definitely helps the overall rear seat
comfort when it does come to sitting in the back seat especially when you are
sitting behind a seat that’s all the way back in the tracks and as squared off as
possible I still feel comfortable and I could
definitely sit in this position for a long road trip all right so now let’s
check out the cargo areas of both the 2018 and 2019 models all right so now
let’s look at the cargo area of the 2018 Santa Fe sport so let’s walk right up to
the rear here right under the Hyundai logo you just press the button and it
will open up through your power assistance you can also open up the
trunk by holding down on the button right here on your key fob now looking
inside of the trunk with those rear seats folded up you are going to be
looking at 35.4 cubic feet of space which is actually pretty spacious back
here and then if you fold down those rear seats
you will be looking at just about 71.5 cubic feet of space so to fold down the
rear seats you just pulled this lever right here and it will fold down that
seat but I do have that front passenger seat all the way back in its tracks to
show you that that side will not fold down completely and then you could also
fold this one down by pulling right there and both of those seats will fold
down together it’s actually going to be a 40/20/40 split but when you are
folding them down this whole section right here will fold down as a 60 but
all-in-all the cargo area inside of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport seems pretty
versatile I’m definitely going to do a cargo review of this vehicle so stay
tuned for that it is going to be a lot more in-depth and we are going to see
how this trunk compares to the 2019 model and Hyundai is also going to give
you a button right here to press as well as a helper handle so both of these
things are pretty neat features to help you close the tail
game all right so I also get the cargo area
on the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe so to open up the trunk all you have to do is come
right below your Hyundai logo there will be a rubber pad that you press and the
tailgate open up super fast holy cow faster than what was found on the 2018
model year and you can also open up the tailgate through your key fob design
right here by pressing this button right there now
with the rear seats folded up you are going to be looking at just about
thirty-six point six cubic feet of space which is just about a 0.8 cubic foot
increase over its predecessor and once you fold down these rear seats and to
fold down the rear seats all you do is press this button right here and is
going to power fold a lot more fancy than was found on the 2018 model 2018
model did have more of a cable actuated type of functionality this is going to
be power functioning and you will be looking at just about seventy one point
three cubic feet of space once you fold down those rear seats which is just
about a point two cubic foot decrease over the previous generation so Hyundai
did decrease the overall cargo volume inside of here by a little bit but not
too much it’s like literally a fraction of a cubic foot it’s probably not going
to be too noticeable but just keep in mind that Hyundai did not drastically
increase the overall cargo dimensions despite to the exterior growing and
overall size and as far as cargo numbers go both the 2018 and the 2019 models of
the Santa Fe 5 passenger are going to have very class competitive cargo
numbers and they are going to be pretty much in line with the largest trunks in
the compact utility vehicle segment and they will also be in line with the
smaller trunks of entries in the midsize SUV segment so some vehicles in the
mid-sized SUV segment are going to have slightly larger trunks but if you are
comparing these vehicles in the compact utility vehicle segment they are going
to have very competitive and pretty much in line overall trunk dimensions and
cargo numbers all right so now let’s talk about the
overall safety for both the 2018 and the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe so for the 2018
model year the Hyundai Santa Fe did earn top safety ratings from both the IIHS
and the NHTSA receiving a top safety pick+ award from the IHS and receiving a
5-star rating from the NHTSA but I would like to see Hyundai improve on the
passenger side small overlap crash in which it did get an acceptable rating I
would also like to see them improve their lower trim level headlights
because only top of line trim levels pretty much the ultimate 2.0 t equipped
with high-intensity discharge headlights with curve adapting got a good rating
and as far as safety technology goes for 2018 Hyundai reserves all of the Santa
Fe’s advanced active safety systems for top of the line 2.0 T ultimate trims
with the technology package which is over $38,000 now as far as the 2019
model goes the IHS nor the NHTSA has tested the 2019 Santa Fe five passenger
but I would expect it to perform extremely well especially considering
its predecessors high marks in both the crash test setting as well as the
headlight setting also the Hyundai Santa Fe for the 2019 model year is going to
come with a slew of standard safety technology such as forward collision
active assist blind spot collision active assist lane keep assist driver
attention warning rear cross traffic alert and a really unique pair of
standard safety technology is going to be Hyundai’s new safe eggs-it Assist and
rear occupant alert and you may be unfamiliar with these systems and save
exoddus this is pretty much if a vehicle is approaching from the rear the vehicle
will lock the doors to prevent occupants from stepping out in front of oncoming
traffic and rear occupant alert it’s pretty much going to be an ultrasonic
sensor inside of the headliner instead of 2019 Santa Fe which is going to
detect movement in the rear seats and then warn the drivers through an app or
by honking the horn to prevent the event of you leaving a child or a pet in
the backseat so all in all when it just comes to safety the 2019 model is going
to be a little bit higher pretty pretty much a step above the 2018 model but the
2018 model is still going to come with a respectable amount of standard safety
and optional safety technology all in all both a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport
and the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe proved to be pretty solid vehicles if you are in
the market for a five passenger family crossover furthermore both the models
definitely deserve a spot on your shopping list if spaciousness safety and
value are necessities on your car shopping checklist overall though if I
had to choose between the two I’ve probably more towards the 2019 model
therefore a range champion in this vehicle showdown not only does the 2019
model offer more standard safety technology but it also features much
better visibility over its predecessor and a higher expected fuel efficiency
rating just to name a few but that doesn’t mean the 2018 model doesn’t
deserve a look if you’re on the search for the most bang for your buck the 2018
model may just be the more practical choice this is because the 2018 model
pushes Hyundai’s value proposition to another level due to their currently
being hefty rebates and incentives on the 2018 models so therefore you can get
the 2018 model for quite a bit cheaper than the 2019 model and that’s so that
dealers can make more room for the all-new 20 1948 in depth comparison

  2. Honestly I think the 2019 is trying to hard I have a 2017 and I think it looks amazing and proffoms amazing.

  3. Best YouTube channel for car reviews! I have watched multiple from redline, Alex and autos, Everyman driver, and Kelley blue book. None of them are as detailed and organized as yours.

  4. Review way too long for what I was looking for, but I really liked the part I did see. Thorough and knowledgeable.

  5. Holy cow! That's longer than a movie. You expect someone to watch a 2 hr car review video? That's more time than it would take me to test drive, finance and purchas the vehicle. I would recommend keeping it 20 min at most.

  7. Get the gauges right its lane control not lane assist, as it brings the car in, lane departure warns you of drifting, 2 adaptive cruise control with emergency braking , not just cruise control with the lines. Get it right.

  8. XL carry over from 18? So the new Santa Fe 19 model is the old, and the new "Sport" is the next gen sporting the 2.0 look like Kona. Thanks Marcus, very helpful!

  9. I know looks arr subjective, but I own the 2018 Santa fe, and it just looks effortlessly beautiful the 2019 to be looks wayyy to overstyles as if hyubdai is trying too hard!!

  10. Just came from watching your 2019 Santa Fe trunk video.

Wow! Your reviews are very very good. Liked and subscribed!

  11. Another stellar review Marcus! I cannot thank you enough for this comparison review. Amazing work!!! I'm very impressed. This is some really high quality content! 😊

  12. Yay… real hood struts!!! And easier to see out back. The present Santa Fe Sport has a beltline that is waaaaayyyyy too upswept…. ridiculous.

  13. Some people don't understand why some manufacturers are placing side mirrors on the doors, as they were prior to the 1980s. You can see how much of a blind spot is reduced with the mirror on the door, especially for short drivers who are more likely to be affected by this while turning a corner and hitting a pedestrian or other vehicle. It DOES happen.

  14. I like the new grille but I can’t get past the fact of how the heck are you suppose to change the headlamp bulbs since they are in the lower part of the bumper? Seems insanely harder than previous model

  15. The interior of the 2019 could not be any UGLIER. What were they thinking? The leather is fine the cloth is atrocious in any color.

  16. Can you please please please do a review on the Kona, Tucson, and Santa fe side by side? I'm torn between the 3 models! Thank you. I love this video by the way ❤️

  17. Excellent review Marcus, greatly appreciated! Lots of very good and detailed buying knowledge for an informed purchaser. Do you know if Hyundai improved the battery and starter systems to account for accelerated wear from the stress of the Idle, Start And Go (ISG) feature?

  18. When he got into the hyundai santa fe 2019, he kept looking to the right. You can tell he's reading something!! 😂 😊

  19. This Comparison Video is very helpful for buyers choosing between these two models. No doubt, the 2019 remake is substantial and impressive. Now the better vehicle. Increasing the window area by 41% is a BIG DEAL for safety. Thanks for the Great Review!

  20. I've been wanting a santa fe for a while. Didn't like 2019 when first saw it, but I'm liking it much better now. The 2018 is a great design, so hard to top it, but the new one looks more upscale comparable to an Audi, Lexus. Big improvement inside.

  21. Great review! Thanks for the update. I have a 2018 and compared to the exterior look on the 2019 I prefer the 2018 look. Once again great review. Kudos

  22. This is an amazing review especially for someone seriously looking to buy. Very detailed, thorough and loved how in depth each section was. I know a lot of work goes into a video this long so thank you for the content!

  23. I was an uber passenger in a santa fe sport, and the back seat is extremely claustrophobic — in addition to the lack of visibility out the windows, you sit very low. Im actually considering purchasing a 2019 santa fe. Since youre spending so much time with these vehicles, I would love for you to do a 0-60 and 60-80 mph highway passing power demonstration with the 2.4L awd spec, as well as a real-time city and freeway fuel economy video.

  24. Not a fan of the headlight assembly being low in front..just like the 2014-2018 Jeep Cherokee. If Hyundai had left the headlights up high, they would get alot more people looking at them for a test drive. I drove one and they have alot of content for the money, quite possibly the best value out there, considering the long standard warranties: 5 yr/60K bumper to bumper and 10 yr/100K on the powertrain. And the single exhaust has to go. Either do twin exhaust (whether real or fake)…or just hide the single exhaust altogether, as my 2016 Acura MDX does.

  25. The fuel door locks on the 2019… when you lock your doors the fuel filler door is lock… when you open your door the fuel door unlocks….

  26. Michael Jackson is alive! Yeee Heee. Just joking around but you do sort of sound like him. Excellent review by the way.
